Horace Vandergelder:
45-65. Proprietor of a hay & feed store. A client of Dolly Levi. A widower of some means.
Irene Molloy:
25-50. Milliner in a New York City hat shop. Dolly has introduced her to Horace, but she yearns for romance.
Cornelius Hackl:
25-45. Vandergelder’s chief clerk. Yearns for one exciting day in NYC.
Barnaby Tucker:
18-30. Assistant to Cornelius at Vandergelder’s hay & feed store.
Ermengarde:
16-25. Vandergelder’s young niece.
Ambrose Kemper:
18-25. Explosive young artist, seeking to marry Ermengarde.
Ernestina Money:
25-45. Eccentric-looking woman, in need of Dolly’s matchmaker services. Non-singing character, but actress will also perform in the Ensemble.
Rudolf Reisenweber:
30-65. Major-domo of the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant. Non-singing character, but actor will also perform in the Ensemble.
