SEEKING
Equity actors and actor/singers for various roles in the 2017 season. See breakdown.
PREPARATION
Actors will read from sides that will be made available when the appointment is confirmed (please indicate the role for which you’d like to read).
If actors want to be considered for the musical, they are invited to sing as well. An accompanist will be available only on January 17th.

Amir:
Male, 40s. South Asian, of Pakistani descent. American dialect. A corporate lawyer who has worked hard for both his position and his American identity. Proud, stubborn, head-strong, masculine.
Emily:
Female, mid 30s – early 40s. Caucasian. An intellectual painter who is both supportive of and frustrated by her husband. Warm, articulate, compassionate, impulsive. Reeks of a certain kind of privilege.
Abe:
Male, Early 20s. South Asian, of Pakistani descent. Originally born in Pakistan and struggling with his American identity. Passionate, headstrong, and devout in his Muslim beliefs.
Isaac:
Male, 40s. Caucasian. A confrontational museum curator who is intellectual, worldly, and contrarian. Charming, quick-witted, and passionate about his Jewish faith.
Jory:
Female, 30s. African-American. An incredibly successful corporate lawyer. Commanding and ambitious. Confident and intelligent.

40s – 50s. A submissive man dominated by his wife and desperate for any kind of amorous experience. Impeccable comedic timing. Baritone B2-G4.
Domina:
40s- 50s. A dominating shrew of a wife. Impeccable comedic timing. Mezzo-Soprano B3-F5.
Hero:
Early 20s. Young, romantic, inexperienced, dramatic. Impeccable comedic timing. Tenor B2-G4.
Hysterium:
Any age. Chief slave. Anxious, wound-up, eager. Impeccable comedic timing. Baritone G5-D4.
Pseudolus:
Any age. Quick-witted, crafty, scheming and a brilliant thinker-on-his-feet. The ultimate, loveable trickster. We encourage actors of all genders to audition for this role.
Lycus:
40+. A Madame who runs the house of Courtesans. Entrepreneurial, enterprising, always on the look-out for a good deal. Impeccable comedic timing. This role will be cast as female.
Philia:
Early 20s. A virgin in the House of Lycus. Young, innocent, devoted and naïve. Impeccable comedic timing. Soprano B3-G5.
Miles Gloriosus:
Early 20s. A Roman captain. Strong, pompous, almost as in love with himself as everyone else is. Impeccable comedic timing. Bass B3-F5. Cast.

A kind-hearted man with military training and good intentions who’s plans sometimes get out of hand. Strong British dialect. This role will be doubled with Owen Musser.
Owen Musser:
Caucasian. The Tilghman County property inspector. An intimidating man. Conniving and scheming his way to authority and power. Strong southern dialect. This role will be doubled by Froggy Lesueur.
Charlie Baker:
A painfully shy and bookish man. His confidence and humor grow as he becomes more comfortable. Strong British dialect. Impeccable comedic timing. Performers of color particularly encouraged to submit for this role.
Betty Meeks:
The proprietor of a Georgia fishing lodge who is wise in some ways and naïve in others. She is good-hearted and generous. Strong Southern dialect. Performers of color particularly encouraged to submit for this role.
Reverend David Marshall Lee:
Caucasian. Appears to be an upstanding and charming man but is actually hiding a darker and more sinister side. Strong Southern dialect.
Catherine Simms:
Caucasian. A young woman who has a quick wit and a sharp tongue but is lonely and kinder than she lets on. Strong Southern dialect.
Ellard Simms:
Caucasian. An agreeable young man, kind and gentle and eager to help others. Impeccable comedic timing and strong Southern dialect.
