Breakdown

SYNOPSIS:
Franny and Andy will do anything to have a baby. But Franny can’t conceive, Andy’s gay, and they haven’t told their partners. A Craigslist ad causes worlds to collide in this funny, poignant look at parenthood, modern families and what it means to belong.

SEEKING:

FRANNY:
30s. Any ethnicity. Impulsive, endearing, spirited, and terrified of her (loudly) ticking biological clock. Occasionally pushy, but has a sensitive heart underneath it all. Quirky, earthy, and quick with a quip. Her emotions are barely contained at all times.

RAY:
30s. Any ethnicity. Genuine, sweet, slightly dorky. A seventh-grade science teacher. Best intentions, occasionally misguided, often a pushover. Used to being the rock in his and Franny’s relationship, but he’s tortured and frustrated by his inability to fix things this time. Generally cheerful, quick to joke, good comic timing.

ANDY:
30s. Any ethnicity. A painter, quietly grief-stricken. Searching to fill a hole in his life that he never knew was there. A man at a moment of great transition, standing on the precipice. Normally contained, but his joy can be infectious.

MATT:
30s. Any ethnicity. Andy’s partner. Solicitous, protective, an alpha male. His first instinct is to joke, but at the end of the day, he’s incredibly serious about Andy. Warm, patient, grounded. A man who has crafted exactly the life he’s always wanted.
