BEATRICE or BEA as we like to refer to her- mid 30’s to mid 40’s. Could go younger if she was a total badass. Speaking of which…this actress needs to be a badass. Because she’s competing for stage time with four attractive lads who sing and play instruments and she will be doing neither. A mash-up of Shakespeare’s Beatrice from Much Ado and fashion icon Mary Quant. Beatrice is smarts, quick wit, and fierce independence masking a pulpy heart. She’s the epicenter of British mod fashion but even that status can’t compete with that of her former boyfriend, Ben…lead singer of the world’s most popular band, The Quartos. Pride, ego and unassailable taste are the materials of her particular armor and it will take some cunning trickery and some aggressive self examination to open herself up to love again.

SHE: 40-55. A leading lady. Vulnerable, open, commanding on stage, but eccentric, with a sense of irony. Able to be in an old-fashioned stylized drama or act with effortless naturalness. HE: 40-55. A leading man. Dashing, sexy, naughty, with a sense of irony, able to be in an old-fashioned stylized drama or act with effortless naturalness. A bit of a mess emotionally. The kind of man whom a mother would think "Uh-Oh" about if presented with dating her daughter. DIRECTOR: Age could range from 30s-70s. A goofy intellectual. Takes himself seriously. But is often ridiculous. KEVIN: 20s- 30s. Very eager, a gay man who, in the play within the play, is a terrible actor, and plays many parts. A natural comedian. HUSBAND: 40s- 50s. A man who is able to be in a stylized Noel Coward play, or can break your heart with his emotional simplicity and light touch. A man who you could believe would be a stable pillar in a marriage.
