Delegate from Massachusetts. John is a dutiful husband. Opinionated, passionate, and a bit boisterous, he wears his age with pride. Starving for independence from England. The character is male, in his 40s. Range: C3-F#4

THOMAS JEFFERSON
Delegate from Virginia. Though noticeably tall, Jefferson is mild-mannered and sweet. Along with being a well read man, he is very much in love with his wife. The character is male in his thirties. Vocal range: G4-C3.

JOHN DICKINSON
Delegate from Pennsylvania. A thin, hawkish gentleman. He is sharp-tongued and a touch detestable. The character is male in his 40s. Vocal Range: E4-A2.

ABIGAIL ADAMS
Living wife to John Adams. Intelligent, quick-witted and talented with a pen, Abigail is a radiant beauty. Every bit as bright as her husband. The character is female in her thirties. Vocal Range: F5-Db4.

Female in her 50s-early 60s . Dotty plays the housekeeper, Mrs. Clackett. She is very forgetful.

Lloyd Dallas
Male, in his 40s-50s. He is very temperamental and in a love triangle with Poppy and Brooke.

Timothy Allgood:
Male in his 20s-50s. The overworked stage manager who also understudies Selsdon and Freddie. Physical comic role.

JACK KELLY
Male, late teens to mid-20s. The leader of the Newsies. A street-smart kid with a dark artistic soul right beneath the bluster. Not a blowhard, the kid's the real thing. Must have a great tenor voice and great dance ability. Vocal Range: C3-G4.

CRUTCHIE
Male, 17-22 years old. A slight, sickly boy with a huhge heart. He walks with the aid of a crutch due to a bad leg, but that doesn't hold him back from being right in the middle of any mischeif. A real charmer. Tenor, Vocal range: G4-C3.

KATHERINE PLUMBER
Female, in her early twenties. The strong willed daughter of Pulitzer. This young lady drips smarts, opinions and confidence. A young Katherine Hepburn or Ellen Page. This damsel needs no prince to save her. Must have a great pop/contemporary musical theatre voice with a high belt. Vocal Range: A3-E5.

JOSEPH PULITZER
Male, in his 40s-50s. Baritone. A politician and the greedy publisher of the New York World newspaper, his only concern.

SNYDER
Male, 40s-60s. Warden of The Refuge; a frightening, spidery and sinister man.

MEDDA LARKIN
Female between 25-45 years old. A vaudeville star, and owns her own theatre. Risque, tough with a big voice and great comic delivery.
