Breakdown

One African-American male Actor (20s – 40s) the main character, who drives the story– a dashing veteran just returned from the Korean War, he is called on to solve a murder case in his community. He begins the story a self-assured ladies man, sure of his charm. He is a respectful adult son and nephew to his mother and aunts. Throughout the story he is pulled in different directions – he wants to do right by his family and community, while he hungers for personal independence. The character is very sure of himself at the beginning, and throughout the story is increasingly surprised by what he finds.
This actor needs to be convincing as a man in his mid 20s, just out of the military. Or if the actor is older, he needs to be convincing as an older character looking back at his younger self, and also playing that younger self.
