Breakdown
Shakespeare Theatre Company of DC is re-mounting A Midsummer Night’s Dream for our annual “Free For All.” The “Free For All” is a DC tradition where STC presents a play completely free of charge. The production will be directed by Ethan McSweeny, who directed the production initially. STC is re-mounting the play at our Harman Center, our 776-seat theater in downtown Washington, DC.
SEEKING:
HERMIA
20s. Short. She is gutsy and rebellious, and fights for what she wants. Capable of unabashed romance, ferocious anger, and terror when left alone in the woods. Must have excellent facility with text.
HELENA
20s. Tall and ungainly. Funny. The funniest one in the play. She has a very truthful center. Loves fully and honestly. Capable of standing her ground when pushed to it, but not a natural fighter. Must have excellent facility with text.
DEMETRIUS
20s. Privileged, and handsome. He is square. A young republican. Capable of cruelty and shows a capacity for violence in the woods. Feels that he deserves what he wants. Must have excellent facility with text.
LYSANDER
20s. Tall. An off-beat leading man. He is darker than Demetrius, and more emo. Impetuous and romantic. lovable, raw and sensitive. Must play guitar. Must have excellent facility with text.
