Opening Thursday, June 11, Matrix Theatre Company's final show of the Season, Precious Little, is written by Madeleine George and tells the unique story of a woman confronting a personal crisis and the part a gorilla in the zoo and an elderly woman play in offering her comfort. The show continues through Sunday, June 28. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 pm, with Sunday performances at 3 pm. All productions are presented at Matrix Theatre Company, located at 2730 Bagley in the heart of Detroit's Mexicantown. Ticket prices range from $15 to $20. Group rates are available for most shows. For further information, or to order tickets, go to www.matrixtheatre.org, or call 313-967-0599.

Directed by Amanda Grace Ewing (Royal Oak), Precious Little features Brodie, a gifted linguist and researcher in her 40s, who successfully receives In Vitro Fertilization only to learn troubling news about her pregnancy. She reaches out to her girlfriend for support but is left unfulfilled. She instead finds comfort in two unlikely sources: an elderly speaker of a vanishing language and, of all things, a gorilla in the zoo. This funny, charming, and slightly offbeat play is an in-depth look at the beauty and limits of human language and the ways in which we communicate with one another.

"This type of show is new for Matrix Theatre," said Matrix Artistic Director Megan Buckley-Ball. "I couldn't be more excited about it. It will give our audiences a chance to step away from the realism they're used to seeing here and give them a taste of the experimental. The overall message of the show is both relatable and important, so I'm really looking forward to hearing feedback from our patrons."
