Dallas Theater Center's hit production of the holiday classic A Christmas Carol returns to the Wyly Theatre. DTC's Brierley Resident Acting Company member Christie Vela will be the first female director of DTC's adaption of the tale that follows a miserly old man on a magical journey of hope and redemption. A Christmas Carol begins previews on Wednesday, November 25 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and runs through Sunday, December 26. Press Opening will be Tuesday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to A Christmas Carol are on sale now at www.DallasTheaterCenter.org and by phone at (214) 880-0202.

"I am honored, humbled and grateful to be directing one of the greatest, if not the greatest, story about redemption and love that was ever written," said Vela. "The story of A Christmas Carol has two big lessons; that everyone deserves their dignity and that everyone deserves a chance to get the important things right. We're going to joyously and fearlessly tell this story and relay the importance of those messages to the audience."

Brierley Resident Acting Company member Hassan El-Amin (The Mountaintop, Colossal, Stagger Lee) will play the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. El-Amin is joined by Acting Company members Daniel Duque-Estrada (LES MISERABLES, Oedipus el Rey) as Topper; Chamblee Ferguson (The Rocky Horror Show, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, Clybourne Park) as Mr Fezziwig/Old Joe; Alex Organ (LES MISERABLES,The Fortress of Solitude, Fly By Night) as Marley/Young Marley; Liz Mikel (A Raisin in the Sun, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Wiz) as Mrs. Fezziwig/Mrs. Dilber; and Brandon Potter (The Book Club Play, Sense and Sensibility, King Lear) as Fred. Additional members of the cast include Cameron Cobb as Bob Cratchit; Traci Elaine Lee (Stagger Lee, LES MISERABLES, The Fortress of Solitude) as Mrs. Cratchit; Lydia Mackay as Ghost of Christmas Past; Dorcas Leung (LES MISERABLES) as Ghost of Christmas Present; and Katrina Kratzer as violinist.

Southern Methodist University students in the cast are Sasha Davis as Sister, Alejandra Flores as Belle, Brandon Murphy as second gentleman, and Timothy Paul Brown as Young Scrooge. Members of the youth ensemble include Abbey Chapman, Jordan Gillette, Campbell Scheer and Bella Ehring as Factory Children; Christena Adkins and Ava Hignite as Tiny Tim; Te'a Casas and Ria Marsh as Martha Cratchit; Quincy Cobb and Sydney Pitts as Belinda Cratchit; Daniela Rodriguez-Larrain and Salma Salinas as Fan; Esau Mahir Price and Ross Adkins as Young Scrooge; and Nik Puri and Landon Robinson as Peter.

Once again, this production will take full advantage of the Wyly Theatre's flexible environment, placing the audience in the center of the magic with the action happening all around them. Tony Award winning set designer Beowulf Boritt (Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream) brings the vibrant world of the play to life. Jennifer Caprio (Colossal, The School for Wives, Medea) returns to DTC bringing her fresh interpretations of traditional Victorian costume designs. Tony Award winning Jeff Croiter (Colossal, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Arsenic and Old Lace) returns to DTC as lighting designer and Broken Chord returns for sound design (The Odd Couple; Henry IV).

DTC is continuing the traditional partnership with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). DTC's administrative staff, crew, Brierley Resident Acting Company and the cast of A Christmas Carol will spend a day volunteering at one of the Food Bank's two Dallas facilities. During performances of A Christmas Carol, DTC will provide a location in the Wyly lobby for patrons to donate canned goods to the NTFB. Members of the cast will also collect monetary donations for them after every performance.

"A Christmas Carol is a welcomed holiday tradition for us at the North Texas Food Bank, and we truly value our partnership with the Dallas Theater Center," said Jan Pruitt, President and CEO of North Texas Food Bank. "Last year was a record-breaker, raising more than $75,000 that provided 225,000 meals for our hungry neighbors. Thank you for making each holiday season a little brighter for hungry children, families and seniors in North Texas!"

DTC's Come Early sponsored by Wells Fargo will take place one hour before every performance and DTC's Stay Late presented by Dr Pepper Snapple will take place after each performance.

DTC gratefully acknowledges the support of A Christmas Carol's production sponsors: Executive Producing Partner Kimberly-Clark Corporation and Associate Producing Partners Highland Park Village and Lyn and John Muse. Major support of this production is provided by Hoblitzelle Foundation, The Meadows Foundation, and Hillcrest Foundation.
