Multi-talented Grammy® and Emmy winning actor/comedian/musician and bestselling author Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers return to Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Thursday, August 18 at 7:30 p.m. Martin with his banjo and The Steep Canyon Rangers will perform music from their newest CD, Rare Bird Alert, which features 13 new Martin-penned tracks, including a live
version of "King Tut."

Martin also co-wrote two of the CD's songs with The Steep Canyon Rangers.

Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers' first visit to Segerstrom Center in 2009 sold out and this concert promises to be another unforgettable evening filled with Martin's special talents for music and laughter.

They will be available at SCFTA.org, by calling (714) 556-2787 and at the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. Martin is a four-time Grammy winner, the latest for The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo, which won Best Bluegrass Album (2009), in addition he won for his collaboration with Earl Scruggs on Foggy Mountain Breakdown (2001) and two for comedy albums Wild and Crazy Guy (1978) and Let's Get Small (1977.) After playing on the Grammy Award-winning Foggy Mountain Breakdown with Scruggs, Martin began writing a string of new banjo songs, some with lyrics and some as instrumentals which led to the making of The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo, which was released on Rounder Records in 2009.

Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers are currently on tour in support of Rare Bird Alert. The album is Martin's second full-length bluegrass album, and includes special guest vocal appearances by Paul McCartney and The Dixie Chicks. Martin comments, "Rare Bird Alert represents an intense, but joyful period of songwriting and touring. My love of this music continues."

Raised in Garden Grove, Calif., Martin attended California State University, Long Beach before transferring to UCLA. During his teenage years, he worked at Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm where he gathered bits for his later comedy and music routines.
