truTV has greenlit The Safecrakers a new unscripted series as the network continues to shape its evolving original programming lineup. The Safecrackers, which comes to truTV from American Chainsaws Entertainment, will introduce viewers to a pair of Alabama locksmiths who specialize in opening even the toughest of vaults.

truTV has ordered six half-hour episodes of The Safecrackers, which is slated to premiere March 24. The series follows expert safecracker Phil Crawford and his best buddy Blaze as they travel the country determined to unravel the mysteries and unlock the secrets lurking in lost and abandoned safes. Phil, Blaze and their fun-loving crew of family and friends can track down and crack open just about anything, from giant bank vaults to intricate antique safes and even armored vehicles and underground bunkers. Serving as executive producers on The Safecrackers are Duke Straub, Colt Straub and Royal Malloy, the team behind such recent series as Mountain Monsters and Diamond Divers.

"Providing an in-depth look into a world rarely seen, The Safecrackers features fascinating characters, suspense, humor and surprising reveals in every episode," said Chris Linn, president, head of programming, truTV.

The Safecrackers joins several truTV series geared toward viewers who love comedic reality shows that are exciting to watch. truTV recently ordered 12 episodes of the new summer series Undercover Magic (working title), in which magician/prankster Michael Carbonaro will perform baffling tricks on unsuspecting people in everyday situations, all caught on hidden camera. Other truTV shows in the comedic reality vein include the over-the-top singing competition Killer Karaoke, which is set to return with new host Mark McGrath on Feb. 20; Upload with Shaquille O'Neal, which will launch new episodes Feb. 26 and Impractical Jokers, which just began a brand new season airing Thursdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
