Telemundo's YO SOY EL ARTISTA Wraps Audition Rounds

Telemundo's "Yo Soy El Artista" (I Am the Artist) concluded the audition rounds last night with the selection of 27 new participants who won over THE 100 digital and social media influencers, the celebrity judges, and host Lucero. A total of 53 contestants will face-off to be admitted into the "Escuela de Artistas" (Artist's School) next Sunday, October 5 at 8pm/7c. Viewers will witness the elimination of contestants during this decisive episode that takes place at an impressive hangar, which will become the stage of singing, dancing and performance challenges. In the end, only 14 will be admitted to the school to kick off the Galas, the final phase of the competition, until a winner of "Yo Soy el Artista" is chosen in the grand finale.

During last night's exciting episode, Lucero surprised the audience by singing on the stage of the mega reality competition located at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando. The award-winning Mexican Regional Band Los Recoditos also delighted viewers performing their new hit, "Hasta que salga el sol." The night also featured the Latino pop DJ trio, 3BallMTY, with their hit "De las 12 a las 12."

The two hours of victories and defeat concluded with the following 27 participants, who joined the 26 previously selected during the last two auditions:

  • Carlos from Phoenix, Arizona, who perfomed "El Tapatío" by Pepe Aguilar

  • Josué from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, who perfomed "Cambio de Piel" by Marc Anthony
  • Joanna from El Paso, Texas, who performed "Mi Ranchito" by Linda Rondstadt
  • Claudia from Miami, Florida, who performed "Price Tag" by JESSIE J
  • Génesis from San Juan, Puerto Rico, who perfomed "Quizás, quizás, quizás" by Gaby Moreno
  • Felix Gabriel from Newark, New Jersey, who performed "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers
  • Jimmy from Somerton, Arizona, who performed "A Puro Dolor" by Son by Four
  • Nat' Lee from Miami, Florida, who performed "Por Amarte Así" by Cristian Castro
  • Junior from Atlanta, Georgia, who performed "Darte un Beso" by Prince Royce

Next Sunday at the hangar, host Lucero, alongside Olga Tañón, Laura Flores and the internationally acclaimed choreographer Javier "Poty" Castillo, joined by other celebrity guests, will determine the fate of the contestants going to theEscuela de Artistas, where they will be submitted to rigorous singing, dancing and performance training. Once they reach the final phase, the Galas, they will perform their songs every Sunday in front of the judges, a live audience and TV viewers, who will ultimately decide who will be selected as the "Yo Soy el Artista" winner.

After each weekly show, viewers can continue to enjoy the excitement of the competition with "Suelta La Sopa Extra" (10pm/9c), THE AFTER show hosted by Jorge Bernal and Erika de la Vega as guest host.
