NIGHTLY NEWS' Lester Holt to Speak with Americans About Nation's Most Pressing Issues

Starting January 16, Lester Holt will travel across the U.S. on the road to Washington D.C. for the presidential inauguration, talking with Americans about the nation's most pressing issues and their hopes for the next four years. Holt will anchor "NBC Nightly News" from Sacramento, Calif., Warren, Mich., Fayetteville, N.C. and the nation's capital through Friday, January 20 as part of "Across America," a special series for "NBC Nightly News." Holt will also lead NBC News' all-day inauguration coverage on January 20, starting at 10 a.m. ET and including a special one-hour edition of Nightly News.

Holt will talk to Americans about issues including jobs, the economy, health care, national security and immigration. "Across America" culminates a year of Holt's reporting throughout the country leading up to the election, starting with moderating the first Democratic Presidential Debate in Charleston, S.C. in January 2016. Holt also traveled to Iowa, New Hampshire, Columbia, S.C. and California for the state primaries, interviewing voters along the way, and moderated the most-watched presidential debate in history.

Holt also interviewed President Barack Obama in Chicago this past Tuesday, prior to the president's farewell address to the nation. Holt's in-depth and intimate interview with the president will air in a one-hour "Dateline NBC" special, "Barack Obama: The Reality of Hope," this Friday, January 13 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT. Holt had rare, behind-the-scenes access, traveling with President Obama on his final plane trip on Air Force One. The two also visited one of the president's favorite restaurants in the Hyde Park section of Chicago to discuss how the president believes he delivered on the promises made eight years ago.
