NBC NIGHTLY NEWS is Most-Watched Newscast, Week Ending 4/25

"NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was America's most-watched newscast in total viewers and all key demos for the week ending April 25, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

The NBC broadcast has held the top position in total viewers for 241 consecutive weeks, in rating Adults 25-54 for 286 consecutive weeks, and in rating Adults 18-49 for 298 consecutive weeks.

Versus the same week last season, Nightly posted growth in total viewers (+1%, or +121,000) and widened its lead over ABC by +7%. Season-to-date, Nightly is currently posting its biggest total viewer audience (9.353 million) since the 2005-06 season and its largest advantage over ABC (+1,129,000) since the 2009-10 season.

Nightly continues to demonstrate the largest total viewer growth this season among the evening newscasts, gaining +573,000 viewers (+7%) versus the same period last season and widening its lead over ABC by +42%.

Nightly is also the only evening newscast to post a season-to-date gain among A18-29 viewers (+8%) versus last season. ABC is flat year-over-year while CBS is down.

Weekly Highlights:

· Nightly delivered 8.249 million total viewers, +647,000 (+9%) more than ABC WORLD News' 7.602 million and +1,968,000 (+31%) more than CBS Evening News' 6.281 million.
· Nightly averaged a 5.5/11 Household rating, ahead of ABC's 5.1/10 and CBS' 4.2/9.
· Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 1.970 million viewers, +38,000 (+2%) ahead of WORLD News' 1.932 million and +467,000 (+31%) ahead of Evening News' 1.503 million.
· Nightly delivered a 1.6 A25-54 rating, tied for #1 with ABC and +3 tenths more than CBS's 1.3 rating.
· Among A18-49 (000), Nightly averaged 1.446 million viewers, +105,000 (+8%) ahead of ABC's 1.341 million and +381,000 (+36%) ahead of CBS's 1.065 million.
· Nightly delivered a 1.1 A18-49 rating, tied with ABC and topping CBS by +3 tenths (+38%).

Trends:

· Nightly has won in total viewers for 241 consecutive weeks, and in 288 of the past 289 weeks.
· Nightly has been #1 in A25-54 rating for 286 consecutive weeks.
· Nightly has been #1 in A18-49 rating for 298 consecutive weeks.
