Singer-songwriter Phil Collins is behind some of the biggest hit songs of this era. But that fame came with a price, as Collins has been maligned by critics and his personal life has suffered greatly. Now, in an interview with Jim Axelrod for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH Jane Pauley and in a new book, Collins opens up to set the record straight.
"There's such a lot of untruths and misconceptions about who I am, what I am, what I've done and why I've done it," Collins tells Axelrod in an interview to be broadcast Oct. 23 (9:00 AM ET) on the CBS Television Network. "I just felt - it's not a 'get even' book, but it's just something to - an opportunity to correct things." Collins, 65, is brutally honest about his life and his career in the book Not Dead Yet. He tells Axelrod he was so frank because he felt the need to get the information out, while also perhaps gaining clarity about what he's been through. He has sold more than 250 million records, including the hits "In the Air Tonight," "Against All Odds" and "One More Night." He also has some searing regrets. "I mean, when you've been married three times and you've got five kids, you don't live with them, and you've been divorced three times, you start to wonder whether it's you, you know? Can't - it can't always be someone else's fault," Collins says.Videos
