Halle Berry, James Marsden, & More Might Return for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Following last week's announcement that Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellan would return to the X-MEN franchise in Bryan Singer's DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Fox is currently in negotations with additional stars in the original feature film, including Halle Berry, James Marsden, previously reported Hugh Jackman, and more.

Berry, Marsden, and the other unnamed cast members in talks to return have not finalized any deal yet, they're reported to be some "willingness to participate because of Bryan (Singer.)"

The returning characters would only be featured in an alternate, dystopian version of the world, in which giant robots called 'Sentinels' have come to eradicate the entire race of mutants.

X-MEN director Bryan Singer revealed on Twitter last week that the cast will also welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult.

The last installment of the franchise, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, was set in 1962 when the United States government enlisted the help of Mutants with superhuman abilities to stop a malicious dictator who is determined to start world war III.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will act as something of a sequel to 'First Class'. Days of Future Past is taken from two issues of Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men in 1981. The story was set in an alternate future in which surviving mutants were confined to concentration camps, while most of the X-Men had been killed. In order to stop this dismal future from unfolding, the X-Men had to stop a specific event from occurring in the past.
