Deadline writes that HBO is not moving forward with Ryan Murphy's drama pilot OPEN.

"After such a triumphant collaboration with The Normal Heart, everyone felt that Open was not the right step for all involved," HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said. "However, we fully expect to work together again in the near future."

Described as a "modern, provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships," OPEN was set to follow an ensemble of characters, played by Michelle Monaghan, Scott Speedman, Wes Bentley, Anna Torv, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Cheyenne Jackson.

Murphy's THE NORMAL HEART won this year's Emmy Award for best TV movie.

He is also the creator of the acclaimed TV series AMERICAN HORROR STORY, GLEE, THE NEW NORMAL and NIP/TUCK.
