Award-winning actor, activist and artist Esai Morales ("La Bamba") has been announced as the newest cast member of Sprout's original series, "THE GOOD NIGHT SHOW." In his role as Tio Javier, Morales joins Nina (played by Michele Lepe) and her trusted sidekick, Star, taking preschoolers and their parents through fun, relaxing bedtime routines and exercises, all while celebrating an emphasis on inclusiveness and cultural gratitude.
As part of the new season of The GOOD NIGHT SHOW, Nina's Uncle, Tio Javier, will invite viewers to play along, sing along and discover the world around them through storytelling, games and gentle stretches. The series' educational approach will continue to incorporate English, Spanish and American Sign Language, and will continue to emphasize the network's dedication to programming that mirrors the day of pre-school aged children. A New York native, Morales is well known for his role as Bob Morales in the 1987 biopic "La Bamba". Morales is most widely CELEBRATED for his role as Lt. Tony Rodriguez in the critically acclaimed "NYPD Blue," winning The Alma Award for "Best Actor in a Television Series" in addition to being honored as Entertainer of the Year at the 17thAnnual Imagen Awards. Morales was also presented the Imagen Award for Best Actor for his performance in "Gun Hill Road," and an Imagen Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for his work in "American Family."
