CBS THIS MORNING Delivers Network's Best Competitive Position to 'Today' in 29 Years

CBS THIS MORNING delivered CBS' best competitive position compared to NBC in viewers in at least 29 years and to ABC in 18 years, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending March 31. Just 376,000 viewers separated CBS THIS MORNING from NBC, and only 601,000 viewers were between CBS THIS MORNING and ABC - compared to the nearly 3 million viewer gap that existed when the CBS broadcast launched five years ago.

For the week, CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.639 million viewers and a 0.9/08 in adults 25-54. At the same time, NBC posted 4.015 million and a 1.3/11 with adults 25-54, while ABC posted 4.240 million viewers and a 1.1/10 in adults 25-54.

CBS THIS MORNING is also the only broadcast network morning news program up season-to-date in viewers. The broadcast is up +1% from this point last season (3.69m from 3.64m). ABC is down -7% (4.61m), and NBC is down -6% (4.44m) during the same time period.

CBS THIS MORNING launched Jan. 9, 2012, and each weekday morning, Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, three News & Documentary Emmys and two Daytime Emmys. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
