Deadline reports exclusively that Ben Affleck will join forces with DC Comics' chief creative officer Geoff Johns to co-author an all-new stand-alone BATMAN movie. The Oscar winner will also star in and direct the project.

Johns has penned numerous comic book series including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, THE FLASH and Superman. He has also brought his superhero powers to television, writing scripts for Smallville, Arrow, The Flash, and the CBS hit series Supergirl.

According to the site, the script is scheduled to be completed by summer's end and the movie will begin shooting after Affleck wraps his next directorial project, LIVE BY NIGHT this November.

The plot will center on the Batman character that emerges after Batman V Superman and Justice League, due out November 17, 2017.
