Captain Cold and THE FLASH have been duking it out in the comic books since 1957's Showcase #8. And now the master of the flash freeze (see what I did there) comes to the the latest TV version of Central City, home of the Scarlet Speedster.

It's hardly a warm reception. Barry (Grant Gustin) first meets Leonard Snart (aka Captain Cold, played by Wentworth Miller) as Barry thwarts Snart's armored car heist. One of Snart's henchmen shoots one of the car guards and Barry zooms the injured man to the hospital instead of apprehending the bad guys.

The villain of the week (VOTW) doesn't hold Barry's attentions for long as Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) has gotten a day pass from Starling City and her unofficial boss, ARROW, to check up on Barry now that he is out of his coma (girl, you are three episodes late).

Iris (Candice Patton) recognizes the chemistry between Barry and Felicity and before Felicity can even check into her hotel, Iris has orchestrated a double date with her boyfriend Det. Pretty Boy Thawne (Rick Cosnett). Because everyone loves to hang out at their place of work when not at work, Iris suggests trivia night at the cafe (which, by the way, has the most elaborate trivia night of any bar, club or café I've ever been to...ah, television).

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) meanwhile, is on the outs with Wells (Tom Cavanagh). It seems like Cisco has been using his free time to craft a freeze ray. Weapons development is a strict no-no at S.T.A.R. Labs. Oh, and it's missing.

Of course, we already know who has it. Snart does. He's already used it to turn the guy who sold it to him into a popsicle.

While the rest of his team enjoys trivia night, Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) is following up on his hunch that Snart was actually trying to steal a grapefruit-sized diamond from the armored car. It's now on display at Central City's museum. West confirms Snart is there and radios it in, thus ending trivia night. Thawne excuses himself as duty calls. Felicity, meanwhile offers to make up an excuse for Barry.

Barry beats Thawne to the scene just in time to take a blast from the freeze gun that was meant for West. Unfortunately, he isn't able to save everyone in the theater that Snart has ducked into. One security guard is dead.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry is a bit peeved to find out that Cisco is not only the inventor of the gun, but also that it was designed to be used on Barry if Barry ever went rogue. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) defends her colleague, but Barry feels betrayed and reminds everyone "someone died tonight."

Felicity tells Barry Team ARROW didn't come together overnight and Barry should remember who his friends are."I've seen first-hand what this life can do to people," she says. "It's a lonely path. Don't make it any lonelier than it has to be."

Snart returns to the museum to finish the job (deciding, unlike Barry, to go it alone). He's next tracked to a train station. He eludes the police, but Barry catches up with him on a moving train which is the perfect place for Snart to exploit THE FLASH's weakness: he cares about saving people. Snart freezes the floor and then the wheels of the moving train, thus derailing it. Barry saves everyone on board, but is zapped by Snart.

Cisco arrives with another protype -a more powerful freeze ray. Snark retreats, but not before Cisco finally comes up with a villain moniker that sticks "Captain Cold." Yeah!

Felicity and Barry share one last moment on another train. They both realize they are pining for someone they can never have. They share a passionate kiss.

The final moment: Snart asks his buddy Mick (as in Mick Rory, aka Heat Wave) if he's up for pulling a job as he hands over the other device to him, a heat gun. Though we don't see him just yet, he's going to be played by Miller's PRISON BREAK co-star Dominic Purcell.

And with that, we speed to a close. Come back next week for another speedy recap. Also, you can always let me know what you thought of the show in the comments below.
