It's hard to tell if Danny Castellano is infuriating or the best boyfriend in the world. I guess he's a little bit of both and with that charm and smile, it is SO easy to see why Dr. Mindy Lahiri is head over heels in love with him.

It's Christmas time and Mindy is hoping for an engagement ring. Through some snooping, she has a suspicion that Danny is going to propose. However, Danny was actually purchasing a burial plot. Oh Mindy, you should know better by now. At the same time, Dr. Fishman offers Mindy an opportunity to do an 8 month fellowship at Stanford. Mindy decides it is the perfect time to go. Peter helps Danny realize that he is in a proposal trap, so naturally Danny sabotages Mindy's chances of getting the fellowship.

Danny is so impressed at Peter's progress in becoming a more responsible adult that he offers to fix him up with a Doctor/hoarder, Jessica (Guest Star Julia Stiles). Due to a THREE'S COMPANY type mixup, Jessica winds up going out with Morgan and having a blast. Once Morgan realizes the mixup, he convinces Peter to let him keep pretending he's actually Peter. Jessica figures out that Morgan is actually Morgan but decides to keep dating him anyway.

Jeremy decides to throw an elegant Christmas party to impress Lauren. It's here where Mindy gives Danny his Secret Santa gift and Danny realizes how selfish he has been. He runs to get the engagement ring from his mother, but she convinces him to instead get her the internship. He does and she is accepted.

Hmmmmm... not quite the cliffhanger like last year with the makeout session on the plane, but still, Mindy away from Danny for 8 months? And was it my imagination or did Lauren and Peter have a "moment" by the elevators? Jeremy seems particularly bored of his relationship with Lauren. Is she sensing that she may have chosen the wrong Schulman associate especially with this latest growth spurt for Peter? I was super happy to see Morgan's Cousin Lou (Guest Star Rob Mcelhenney) back for the holidays and we did get an all too rare Morgan/Peter (seriously, Adam Pally, please don't leave us!) teaming as they plotted to get Morgan his girl. And again no Tamra? What's up with that? Sure would like to see her reaction to Morgan's new girlfriend. Beverly certainly did get some choice moments in though, we can always use more of those.

Lines I Love:

  • Danny - I might have a girl for you, actually. Peter - Doesn't have to be an A. It could be a B with D's, a D with B's.

  • Mindy - You are so wise. Why are you wasting time on medicine? You should be a life coach on THE BIGGEST LOSER.

  • Mindy - I would invite you, but the boys in the Castro would eat you alive. Danny - Yeah... they would.

  • Peter - Why would Mindy go to Stanford? She hates not being the only Asian in the room.

  • Peter - I'm fighting two urges here: date a smart beautiful woman I have earned by self-improvement OR help a bro get a girl by lying. Morgan - You should know we slept together. Peter - She's all yours, Peter. Morgan - Thank you, Morgan.

There wasn't a moment more priceless than Danny's reaction to an all female Nativity scene. As far as Christmas parties go, this one was the tamest of Schulman and Associates. There were no huge, dramatic breakups like Mindy and Josh in Season One or strange seduction plans that fail or any Danny dance routines (sadly), but Jeremy said he wanted a quiet, elegant party and that is what he got.

And seriously, I'm okay with him not proposing by her undisclosed deadline. He shouldn't have been reading her journal to begin with, so who knows if that is a hard date to be met? And there's no need to RUSH into the wedding now that the show has a full season order. Plus, we need a little bit of drama between this perfect couple, otherwise it wouldn't be believable. He's not ruling out the possibility or feeling threatened or pressured, he's just taking his time and thinking about it. That's okay, right? I guess we'll see in January.
