ABC Hits New Yearly High in Late-Night

With its late-night lineup of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 11:35 p.m. and "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m. during the week of June 6, 2016, ABC was up by double digits for the 3rd week in a row in Adults 18-49 (+11% - 872,000 vs. 783,000) to post a new season best and a 1-year high - since the week of 6/8/15.

  • For the 2nd week running, ABC was the No. 1 network in late-night in Total Viewers (2.293 million) and Adults 18-49 (872,000), beating runner-up NBC (2.044 million and 679,000, respectively) by 12% and 28%, respectively.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (M-F, 11:35 p.m.)

During the week of June 6, 2016, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" grew for the 3rd straight week in Adults 18-49 (+9% - 985,000 vs. 906,000) to a new season high with its strongest performance in 1 year - since the week of 6/8/15.

  • ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" was the week's No. 1 late-night talk show in Adults 18-34, dominating NBC's "The Tonight Starring Jimmy Fallon" by 21% (392,000 vs. 324,000), while coming within just 70,000 Adult 18-49 viewers of "Fallon" (985,000 vs. 1.055 million). "Kimmel" towered over CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" (486,000 and 155,000, respectively) by triple digits in Adults 18-49 (+103%) and Adults 18-34 (+153%).
  • Behind only its 6/2/16 telecast the prior week, Friday's broadcast of "Kimmel" (1.492 million on 6/10/16) was the 2nd strongest late-night telecast on any weeknight on any network in 5 months with Adults 18-49 (since the 1/22/16 telecast of "Fallon"). In fact, "Kimmel"'s Friday and Wednesday (1.478 million on 6/8/16) broadcasts out-rated all but one weeknight telecast of "Colbert" (only its series debut on 9/8/15 ranked higher).
  • The Friday and Wednesday telecasts of "Kimmel" stood as the week's Top 2 telecasts in late-night in Adults 18-49, topping "Fallon" on each night by 50% (1.492 million vs. 993,000) and 55% (1.478 million vs. 956,000), respectively.

"Nightline" (M-F, 12:35 a.m.)

ABC's "Nightline" ranked No. 1 versus its CBS and NBC competition in Total Viewers (1.723 million), Adults 25-54 (743,000) and Adults 18-49 (645,000) for the 2nd week in a row during the week of June 6, 2016, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

For the 3rd straight week, "Nightline" turned in increases week to week (w/o 5/30/16) in all key target demos: Total Viewers (1.723 million vs. 1.717 million), Adults 25-54 (+7% - 743,000 vs. 696,000) and Adults 18-49 (+17% - 645,000 vs. 552,000). In fact, "Nightline" saw its largest overall audience in 15 months and best key adult deliveries in 1 year - since the weeks of 3/9/15 and 6/8/15, respectively.

"Nightline" improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+6% - 1.723 million vs. 1.632 million on w/o 6/8/15), delivering year-to-year gains for the 3rd straight week and in 4 of the last 5.

"Nightline" delivered its strongest telecast in Adults 25-54 (1.122 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.026 million) with its Friday airing (6/10/16) in 1 year - 6/11/15 and 6/16/15, respectively.
