The platforms of NBC News -- strengthened by the resources of the NBCUniversal News Group, including The Weather Channel, NBC Owned Television Stations, CNBC, MSNBC, and Telemundo -- will continue comprehensive coverage of superstorm Sandy as millions are left without power, communities suffer from flooding, and transportation systems remain crippled.

"NBC Nightly News with BrIan Williams" will expand to a full hour tonight (6:30pm ET), offering stations extended coverage of the aftermath, recovery efforts, and ongoing threats in the wake of the storm.

BrIan Williams will also anchor an NBC News special, "Sandy's Fury," at 10:00 pm ET/9:00 CT. Lester Holt, Harry Smith, Hoda Kotb, Chris Hansen, Andrea Canning, Ron Allen, and others have been hunkering down with families and friends riding out the storm. From the New Jersey shore to the New York coastlines to Connecticut and onward, the special will explore the damage caused up and down the eastern seaboard. NBC News will follow the storm as it moves westward into Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas, and take a look at the electrical grid that is so vulnerable in bad weather.

In-depth coverage will continue Wednesday morning on "TODAY," anchored by Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie.
