BARI LEIGH

BIO:
“I followed my heart and look where it got me…” Bari Leigh couldn’t have written a more appropriate beginning. Growing up in a home filled with music, Bari learned at a young age that she could impact people with her songs. Self-taught as a singer, guitarist, and pianist, she began writing songs at the age of seven and never looked back. With her unique voice and immense original song collection showing a maturity well beyond her years, Bari effortlessly infuses pop with elements of country, rock, funk, blues and soul. The result is one that is very much her own--music that both defies and blends conventional genres. With Bari Leigh’s debut EP, she wanted to showcase her many different writing styles by creating a diverse 5-song collection. Produced by critically acclaimed recording artist, Willie Wisely, Bari Leigh’s EP reveals not only that she has a compelling voice and an emerging songwriting talent, but a steadfast ambition to follow her heart. We start with the award-winning “The Sand Will Catch Our Fall”, an instant classic spinning a tale of summer love (We’ll see where this goes / For now it’s a mystery / With sand in our toes / We’ll make our own history). With the help of a little pedal steel guitar, you’ll feel sand in your boots as you imagine yourself on the beach at sunset. In bold contrast, “Should’ve Stayed Gone” tells a coming of age story about the challenges of breaking away and starting a new life (Why’d I come back to this scene / When it took all my strength to leave). The soul-tinged “Strong Enough for Both of Us” gently settles you into the Memphis blues. This song of love and encouragement touches even the toughest of hearts (I didn’t come this far to let you go / Just know you’re not alone / I’ll show you). “Dumb” takes a turn into the land of funky grooves and driving rock while playing on the double-meaning of the title (How come every time you come around / My face is on the floor and my heart is pounding like / Dumb Dumb Dumb). With an alternative edge, this song proves Bari Leigh sees no boundaries when it comes to song-writing. In the EP’s closer, “Tonight,” is a rocking girl anthem proving surf-rock is alive and well among modern day songwriters ( All you need’s a heartbeat / I don’t need you to be smart / Stand there and look pretty, boy / You’re workin’ way too hard). This song will leave you on the edge of your seat with the sudden urge to strum your air guitar. While the EP is a mere sampling of Bari Leigh’s vast writing styles, her true passion as a performing artist combines Modern Country with an old Soul twist.
