Sunday State Announces 'Mono' EP

Sunday State has announced their debut EP and unveiled a new track. The band will celebrate the release of their EP titled "Mono" with a release show on May 10th at Portland ORE's The Fixin' To.

Sunday State is the songwriting duo of Portland's Kurt Foster (Mission Spotlight) and Michael Carothers (Paper Cameras). Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) heard their home demos and said they sounded "like real space cowboy s, equal parts Ultravox, Merle Haggard, and Mazzy Star." Foster and Carothers enlisted the help of Steve Turner (Mudhoney) and Thom Sullivan (Pynnacles) and recorded their debut 5 song e.p. in mono at Jackpot Studio with Tape Op editor Larry Crane. The current live lineup is Kurt Foster (vocals), M Carothers (guitar), Jeremy Dietz (bass) and Thom Sullivan (drums).

PopMatters says that "'Call Your Bluff' marries the bass-heavy angst of classic British post-punk with the heft and howl of the noisy, start/stop round kicks of American indie rock of the 1990s and aughts. If you love buzz and howl, fuzz and fun, Sunday State is decidedly a band for you, one that'll have you throwing your arms in the air with sonic solidarity."
