One of the most ancient percussion instruments used in Carnatic Music of South India is the Gatham. It is made of clay with brass or copper fillings and looks like a traditional clay pot with a narrow mouth. Various tones can be made by tapping the Ghatam with the different parts of the hand and is usually placed on the lap of the performer.

Kapil Srivastava thought of incorporating the distinct tune of ghatam to blend in with the sound of the guitar. Such combination is a way to revolutionize the guitar perspective of modern youth in music. Now, guitar lovers can enjoy a fusion of melodies and rhythm of a traditional instrument such as gatham with the effects of the guitar tune.

This is just one of the pioneer initiatives of Guitarmonk, where Kapil will record the 3rd volume of his album, the Indian Guitaroo on Ghatam and Mridangam. The artist's video in GM Tune Time Season will also be available for the guitar and music lovers to watch.

Kapil and Guitarmonk's special lecture demonstrations in concept with the Ghatam, and Mridang with Guitar playing are now currently held in various school and corporations in the country.
