Iceland Airwaves Announces Final Lineup for 20th Anniversary

Iceland Airwaves completes its 2018 line-up for the 20th Anniversary edition including Icelandic supergroup Team Dreams (Sin Fang, Sóley & Örvar Smárason) and post punkers Fufanu, one-man dynamo Cola Boyy (US) and electronic duo The Rhythm Method (UK) and many more.

240 acts from 25 countries featuring Ólafur Arnalds, Ásgeir, Blood Orange, Aurora, Natalie Prass, Alma, Hayley Kiyoko, Cashmere Cat, Soccer Mommy, Stella Donnelly and Snail Mail makes the 20th edition of Airwaves its biggest ever. The feted Reykjavík festival will take place 7th - 10th November.

Connoisseurs of Icelandic music will have long been enthralled by the individual output of Sin Fang, Sóley and Örvar Smárason. As Team Dreamsand after the success of their sold out European run, they've very keeping the dream alive, bringing their wistful Icelandic supergroup to Airwaves for one very special performance.

Airwaves has also rustled up some fresh gems including the much-feted one-man groove show that is Cola Boyy (US), and UK electronic duo The Rhythm Method as part of the special label night celebrating 20 years of Moshi Moshi Records. There's also a Bella Union night with a one-off vinyl only set from head honcho Simon Raymonde plus sets from new Norwegian signings Pom Poko and Icelandic indie rockers Mammút, as well as more surprises to come.

Did you or someone you know attend the first ever Airwaves in 1999? If not, fear not as we re-create the first ever Airwaves line-up with the reformation of bands Toy Machine, Dead Sea Apple and Carpet all coming together to wave in this special 2018 edition. Legendary local festival long stays Dr Spock will also be joining the bill, as well as the aforementioned, much-loved Fufanu, radio friendly newbies ClubDub and rising hip hop star Herra Hnetusmjör (that's Mr Peanut butter to you).

Due to scheduling issues, however, Jade Bird and Sassy 009 have cancelled their performances this year's Airwaves.

As previously announced, there's a couple of special performances coming up from Airwaves alumni Ólafur Arnalds and Ásgeir at this year's event. Ólafur will be performing two unique shows featuring material from new album 're:member', all based around a three grand piano set-up and hosted within the grand surroundings of the National Theatre.

Ásgeir will be performing his new album (set for release in early 2019) in its entirety for the very first time. He'll be playing two very special, intimate shows at Fríkirkjan, the beautiful church right in the heart of downtown. Ásgeir will also curate a series of once-in-a-lifetime day shows, where a selected number of favourite Airwaves acts will record sessions cut live to vinyl at the famous Stúdíó Hljóðriti in Hafnarfjörður, and given away exclusively to a a few very lucky guests in attendance.

Iceland Airwaves has long been regarded as the ultimate destination festival to discover your next favourite act. Reykjavík might be a small city, but it's musically it's a giant, over 150 local acts joining the Airwaves bill this year. Add an additional 85 stellar internationals to the party and you're in for one mighty long weekend of musical celebration and discovery.
