Nicholas Cage to Star in David Gordon Green's JOE
According to The Hollywood Reporter Nicolas Cage will take on the leading role in David Gordon Green's JOE. The film is an adaptation of the 1991 Larry Brown novel. Screenwriter Gary Hawkins, who wrote and directed the 2002 Brown documentary, The Rough Side of Larry Brown, adapted the novel for the screen.
According to the film's official synopsis: "Nearing fifty, Joe Ransom won't slow down, not in his pickup, not with a gun-and certainly not with women. But all the fast living in Mississippi won't fill the hunger Joe can't name. At fifteen, Gary Jones is already slipping through the cracks. Part of a hopeless, homeless wandering family, he's desperate for a way out. He finds it in Joe. Together they follow a twisting map to redemption - or ruin."
Cage is an Academy Award–winning actor, producer and director who has appeared in over 60 films including Raising Arizona (1987), The Rock (1996), Face/Off (1997), Con Air (1997), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), Adaptation (2002), National Treasure (2004), Lord of War (2005), Ghost Rider (2007), The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009), Kick-Ass (2010), and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012).
