Marvel Developing TV Series Following CAPTAIN AMERICA's Peggy Carter
Marvel may be poised to bring its second series to television.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the entertainment giant is currently working to develop a potential series following CAPTAIN AMERICA's Peggy Carter, aptly titled AGENT CARTER. No deals are dry at this point, though should the project move forward, it would likely land at ABC.
The report notes: "Agent Carter is a one-shot set to be released Sept. 24 as an extra on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray. Agent Cartertakes place a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger and follows Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) girlfriend Agent Carter (portrayed by Hayley Atwell) as she builds her career as a secret agent while the hero is frozen in ice."
ABC and Marvel both declined THR's request for comment - as well as if Atwell would reprise her role.
Atwell recently shot a cameo for the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA sequel THE WINTER SOLDIER, which is set for an April 4, 2014 theatrical release.
Atwell's first feature film role was in Woody Allen's 2007 film Cassandra's Dream, in which she took the part of a stage actress opposite Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell. In 2008, she appeared in the film The Duchess as Bess Foster and the film Brideshead Revisited as Lady Julia Flyte, earning praise and nominations from the British Independent Film Awards and the London Film Critics' Circle Awards.
Atwell appeared as "415" in AMC Television's November 2009 miniseries, The Prisoner, a remake of the 1967-68 series by the same name. She also appeared in The Pillars of the Earth.
