GRAY ST, Featuring Cirque du Soleil Members, to Debut at Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, 8/4-6
GRAY ST is an original production made up of six dancers and explores the idea that so many of us live our day to day lives in that gray area; a life lacking vibrancy and significance. It follows a family while each family member is confronted with their own battles that end up impacting their loved ones, only to realize in the end that these struggles carry little importance in the greater picture of life. The show will contain many art forms including interactive multimedia projection, comedy and film, all combined through dance.
Gray St was created, directed, and produced by Andre Kasten and Leah Moyer and choreographed by Kasten, both former Cirque du Soleil performers. Gray St is a result of Kasten winning the Capezio A.C.E. Awards, a national choreography competition which gives funds to produce a full-length show for an off-Broadway stage. In addition, Cirque du Soleil has contributed to the project through PARADE, a cultural grant program to encourage and support the artistic projects of its employees. The show debuted in Las Vegas before its NYC run August 4-6 at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater.
The dancers' experience includes Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles LOVE, Delirium and Viva ELVIS, Celine Dion's A New Day, Britney Spears, CATS, and dance companies Luna Negra, Le Ballet Jazz, Mia Michaels RAW, Gus Giordano, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Odyssey Dance Theatre, DanceWorks Chicago, and Parsons Dance Project. The production team is composed of employees from Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas resident shows.
The show runs August 4 at 9:30pm, August 5 at 6:00pm and August 6 at 8:00pm at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre, 405 W 55th St at 9th Avenue, New York, NY 10019. For more information, visit www.GrayStProduction.com.
