Magnet Theater to Host 7th Annual New York Musical Improv Festival in October

Magnet Theater is thrilled to announce that The New York Musical Improv Festival (NYMIF) will return for its seventh year from October 15 ­ 18, 2015 at 254 W. 29th Street, ground floor (between 7th and 8th Avenues), NYC.

The 7th Annual New York Musical Improv Festival?is now accepting applications from musical improv teams and performers of all sizes and genres of musical improv through June 22, 2015. Those interested in submitting their acts for consideration can apply through the online application by visiting w?ww.nymif.com.?

For the past 6 years, hundreds of performers from as far as Vancouver and Edmonton in Canada, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Milwaukee, Rhode Island, San Francisco, Washington DC and as close as Broadway, NYC have converged on the Magnet Theater stage to create fully improvised musical performances ­ ranging from traditional musical theatre fare to adrenaline­pumping rap battles. The Magnet Theater is recognized as the center for musical improv study and performance in the U.S.

LIVE BAND KARAOKE?­ On Friday, October 9th at 11:30pm, in preparation for The 7th Annual New York Musical Improv Festival, the Magnet Theater is giving everyone the chance to unleash their inner Rock Star and belt out their favorite tunes on stage to a full LIVE BAND headed up by Frank Spitznagel. This ONE NIGHT ONLY event is FREE to everyone. Sign­up starts at 11:15 and is first­come, first­served.
