ForeWord Reviews Book of Year Awards recognizes the biography of famous first cousins Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Swaggart, and Mickey Gilley.

"UNCONQUERED" (Brown Books Publishing Group) by J.D. Davis weaves a unique tale of American music centered on the trials, tribulations, and achievements of three men, and the life-changing power of the music, the mothers, and the religion that shaped their distinct paths to fame.

ForeWord's Book of the Year Awards program was designed to discover distinctive books from independent publishers across a number of genres.

ForeWord's annual awards program is unique in that the final selections are made by librarians and booksellers based on their experiences with patrons and readers.

Drawn from entries representing more than 600 publishers, the winners are selected after months of deliberation.

This year saw 1,300 entries in 62 categories. The winners exemplify the best work coming from today's independent, academic, and small press communities.

Awards were determined by librarians and booksellers and announced at a special program at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago on June 28, 2013.

"UNCONQUERED: The Saga of Cousins Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Swaggart, and Mickey Gilley" was awarded with the Honorable Mention in the category of biography (adult nonfiction).
