Legendary stand-up comedian, television icon and film star Bob Newhart will make his first appearance at the Gallo Center for the Arts at 8 pm on Friday, September 26.

Tickets for the performance are $39 to $99, and may be purchased online at www.galloarts.org. by calling (209) 338-2100, or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto.

Noted for his deadpan and slightly stammering delivery, Newhart came to prominence in the 1960s when his album of comedic monologues,"The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart," was a worldwide bestseller and reached number one on the Billboard pop album chart. During these years he developed classic routines including The Driving Instructor, Sir Walter Raleigh and The Submarine Commander that he continues to perform.

Newhart went on to star in two long-running, award-winning television situation comedies, as well as a Peabody Award-winning variety show. He's also appeared in 14 feature films, including the "Catch 22," "Cold Turkey" and the 2003 Will Ferrell holiday comedy, "Elf."
