Emerging operatic powerhouse Paul Appleby, one of this generation's most incredible new tenors, will take the stage at the Michael SchimMel Center For the Arts on Sunday, January 26th as part of Pace's concert series VOCE AT PACE: RISING OPERA STARS. Rising Opera Stars in Recital is supported by the Richard Tucker Music Foundation in honor of Dr. Agnes Varis. It is curated by Matthew Epstein.
Paul Appleby will present a program including Beethoven's Adelaide, 5 songs by Schubert and 7 songs from "Myrten" op. 25, Schumann. There will be some of Benjamin Britten's settings of W.H. Auden poems as well as 2 songs by Leonard Bernstein. He will be accompanied by Ken Noda in the first act and Brian Zeger in the second part of the recital.
Mr. Appleby is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, and has already won a myriad of prices for his voice, including the 2012 Lenore Annenberg Fellowship in the Performing and Visual Arts. This past fall he was heralded in his return to the Metropolitan Opera as Brian in the 2013 premiere of celebrated American composer Nico Muhly's Two Boys.
