On Monday, May 2, 2016, The New York Pops celebrates its 33rd birthday with a grand gala evening honoring the award-winning composer and lyricist Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, whose collaborations include the hit Broadway musicals LES MISERABLES and Miss Saigon. The event will be an exciting evening celebrating the duo's long-lasting contributions to the international world of musical theatre.

"The New York Pops is so thrilled to honor the legendary lyricist and composer Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg," said Music Director Steven Reineke. "Their masterpieces LES MISERABLES and Miss Saigon are truly revolutionary pieces of musical theatre. They are both born storytellers - all of their songs are deeply imbued with emotion and intent, through both words and music. There is a good reason that their shows are produced time and time again, around the world, in theatres large and small. I am beyond excited to work with Alain and Claude-Michel to produce another spectacular New York Pops gala. Keep your eyes peeled for some incredible artists on stage with us next May!"

Music Honoree Alain Boublil said, "Claude-Michel and I are humbled and grateful that The New York Pops has selected us as Music Honorees for its 33rd Birthday Gala next May. We are very excited to work with Steven Reineke to put together an exciting orchestral program showcasing work from across our careers. It is always a great joy to hear the dream version of your songs performed as you have imagined them, with a full orchestra bringing the rich, lush sonorities to life, and sung by some of today's most gifted performers. Can't wait!"

The gala begins at 7:00 PM with a concert at Carnegie Hall, featuring a spectacular lineup of stars from stage and screen under the baton of Music Director Steven Reineke. Performers to be announced. Following the concert, a black tie dinner and dance will be held at the elegant Mandarin Oriental New York.

Tickets for the concert will be available to the public in January 2016. Tickets to the black tie Dinner Dance will be available by calling The New York Pops office at 212-765-7677.
