The New York Philharmonic Adds Changes and Updates to It's 2014-15 Season

Following is an updated chronological listing incorporating changes to the New York Philharmonic's 2014-15 season since the artists and programs for the season were announced on January 22, 2014. Highlights include:

? Alan Gilbert will conclude The Nielsen Project with Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto, featuring newly appointed Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill, January 8-10 and 13, 2015. On the all-Nielsen program earlier in the season, October 1-3, 2014, Alan Gilbert will conduct Nielsen's Maskarade Overture (replacing the previously announced Helios Overture) and, as previously announced, Symphony No. 5 and Symphony No. 6, Sinfonia semplice. The works will be recorded for future release on Denmark's Dacapo label and distributed by Naxos. The Philharmonic's recordings of Symphonies Nos. 1 and 4 will be released in the U.S. in September 2014 and elsewhere October 1, 2014. The Nielsen Project is the multi-year project in which Alan Gilbert and the Orchestra will perform and record Nielsen's six symphonies and three concertos.

? Repertoire and additional artists have been announced for the chamber music program that is part of Dohna?nyi / Dvor?a?k: A Philharmonic Festival, December 7, 2014, co- presented with 92nd Street Y. Inon Barnatan, the Philharmonic's inaugural Artist-in- Association, will join cellist Alisa Weilerstein and New York Philharmonic musicians for Dvor?a?k's Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 87, and Terzetto in C major for Two Violins and Viola, Op. 74; Schulhoff's Divertissement for Oboe, Clarinet, and Bassoon; and Martinu?'s La Revue de cuisine Suite for Clarinet, Bassoon, Trumpet, Violin, Cello, and Piano. In addition, Dvor?a?k's Symphony No. 7 will now be featured on the December 4-6 and 9, 2014, program; Dvor?a?k's Symphony No. 9, From the New World will now be featured on the December 11-13, 2014, program.

? The program titled Sacred and Transcendent, February 19-21, 2015, celebrates the 15th- anniversary season of the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma. The Ensemble and the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, will perform both separately and together in a program that will include The Silk Road Suite, a compilation of works commissioned and premiered by the Ensemble; Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky's Sacred Signs Suite; Mozart's Masonic Funeral Music; R. Strauss's Death and Transfiguration; and Osvaldo Golijov's Rose of the Winds, which features both groups.

? The Orchestra has announced several holiday concerts:

o Holidays with the Philharmonic, conducted by Constantine Kitsopoulos, December 19-20, 2014. The repertoire will include Mozart's German Dance (featuring its famous sleigh ride) and Leroy Anderson's Suite of Carols. The audience will be invited to join a carol sing-along. Further program details will be announced at a later date.

o New Year's Eve: A Gershwin Celebration, December 31, 2014, conducted by Bramwell Tovey. Vocalists Dianne Reeves and Norm Lewis will make their New York Philharmonic debuts in a program that includes Gershwin's Cuban Overture and Catfish Row: Suite from Porgy and Bess, and Ms. Reeves will sing jazz-inspired selections from the Gershwin songbook, joined by pianist Peter Martin, bass player Reuben Rogers, and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington. Additional repertoire will be announced at a later date.

o A Broadway Romance, February 14, 2015, conducted by Ted Sperling and featuring vocalists Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana. The Valentine's Day concert paints a portrait of the vicissitudes of romance told through Broadway songs and duets culled from Bernstein's West Side Story, Bock's She Loves Me, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, Stephen Sondheim's Follies, and more.
