Philly POPS Announces New Hires and Promotions

After several years of growth and financial success, the Philly POPS has made a significant investment in its programming, production, and contributed revenue departments with new hires, as well as promotions in the education and communications departments.

New hires:

On September 6, Jeth Mill assumed the role of Senior Director of Programs and Production. Jeth brings three decades of orchestra management experience to the expanding POPS organization. He has served as Executive Director of orchestras throughout North America, including Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony, Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, and Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. He also was responsible for the Pops Series at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Jeth is an accomplished leader in programming, artistic administration, concert production, strategic planning and program development. He is a graduate of Ohio University and studied Business Administration and Leadership Skills at Penn State University.

Contributed Revenue Coordinator Joseph Croft comes to the POPS after a Development Apprenticeship in Institutional Giving at the Walnut Street Theatre and a position in Membership at the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. Joseph is a graduate of Keystone College. He joined the POPS in July.

Program Associate Keith Obaza joined the POPS in July. An accomplished audio engineer, Keith has worked throughout the Philadelphia region, including at Greater Media (WMGK 102.9 FM, WMMR 93.3 FM, WBEN 95.7 FM, WPEN-FM 97.5 FM), WHYY, and WXPN. He is also the Sound Engineer at the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County. Keith is a graduate of Temple University.

Promotions:

Jason Ward, who started with the POPS in February 2015, has been promoted to Senior Manager of Engagement. He's led the POPS' education initiative from the conceptual stage to a model program for arts organizations nationwide, manages the Annual Fund, Foundation and Government Support, and Corporate Sponsorship, and provides Front-of-House management all performances. Previously, Jason worked at the League of American Orchestras, Lincoln Center and InterIochen Center for the Arts.

Sarah Maiellano, who started with the POPS in August 2015, has been promoted to Assistant Director of Communications. She is responsible for all media relations, social media and writing of public-facing material. Previously, she worked at the National Restaurant Association and in public relations in Washington, D.C. Sarah is also a successful freelance writer covering travel and food.
