Mary Bevan To Replace Joelle Harvey In ARIODANTE Due To Ill Health

Carnegie Hall today announced that soprano Joélle Harvey must regrettably withdraw from her role as Dalinda in Handel's Ariodante with Harry Bicket and The English Concert scheduled for Sunday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage due to ill health. Soprano Mary Bevansteps in for Ms. Harvey to join the cast, which remains the same for this concert performance. The complete program information with updated artist listing is below.

Handel's Ariodante (opera in concert) will be webcast free of charge to a worldwide audience, thanks to the Hall's continued collaboration with medici.tv. Following the live webcast, free replay of this concert will be available to online audiences for another three months, playable worldwide on all internet-enabled devices, including smart phones, tablets, Chromecast, computers, and smart TVs.

The collaboration between Carnegie Hall and medici.tv-making live webcasts of select Carnegie Hall concerts available to music lovers everywhere-began in fall 2014 and has since showcased performances by some of the world's most celebrated artists. These webcasts-which have included master classes led by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who performs the lead role of Ariodante in this concert-have been enthusiastically received, reaching over 4 million views over the past two seasons with audience members originating from more than 180 countries and territories around the world.

About the Artist
English soprano Mary Bevan is a winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist Award and UK Critics' Circle Award for Exceptional Young Talent in music. This season, she returned to the English National Opera as Zerlina in Richard Jones's new production of Don Giovanni, conducted by Mark Wigglesworth. She also headlined a tour of Asia with Harry Bicket and The English Concert, and performed with the Academy of Ancient Music and Gabrieli Consort. Also this season, Ms. Bevan made her role debut at the Adelaide Festival as Merab in Barrie Kosky's production of Handel's Saul. In recital, she appeared with the Myrthen Ensemble at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Musée d'Orsay in Paris, and Wigmore Hall in London.

For Carnegie Hall Corporation presentations taking place in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, a limited number of seats, priced at $10, will be available day-of-concert beginning at 11:00 a.m.Monday through Saturday and 12:00 noon on Sunday until one hour before the performance or until supply lasts. The exceptions are Carnegie Hall Family Concerts and gala events. These $10 tickets are available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis at the Carnegie Hall Box Office only. There is a two-ticket limit per customer.
