Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman will perform at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 8pm. Itzhak enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry, but also to the irrepressible joy of making music, which he communicates.

Awards and prestige are found in abundance for Mr. Perlman, with a host of Emmy's and Grammy's for his television work and his recordings, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in the recording arts. In December 2003 the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts granted Mr. Perlman a Kennedy Center Honor celebrating his distinguished achievements and contributions to the cultural and educational life of our nation. He has received a number of honorary degrees from schools including Yale, Harvard and Roosevelt.

According to Mr. Perlman one of his proudest achievements is his collaboration with film score composer John Williams in Steven Spielberg's Academy Award winning film Schindler's List, in which he performed the violin solos. Over the years he has become increasingly involved in educational activities and spends many of his months teaching at the Perlman Music Program -including winter residencies here in Sarasota!
