Clarinetist Christy Banks to Perform at Millersville University, 9/21

On Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2:30 p.m. clarinetist Christy Banks brings her passion for innovation to the stage in a concert that celebrates musical trailblazers of yesterday and today. The performance will be held in Biemesderfer Hall at the Winter Center on Millersville University's campus.

Dr. Banks is currently the Associate Professor of Music at Millersville University, and she is also the Assistant Chair of the Music Department. Her focus is on clarinet and saxophone. She previously taught at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Concordia University, Doane College, Union College, and Peru State College. She received both her DMA and BM in clarinet from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and continued on to get her MM in clarinet from Florida State University. Banks also has been a member of a number of professional ensembles, including the Lincoln-Symphony Orchestra and the Nebraska Symphony Chamber orchestra. Locally, Banks has performed with the Harrisburg, Lancaster, and Reading Symphonies, as well as the Pennsylvania Sinfonia and Opera Lancaster. After studying with many notable clarinet and saxophone teachers, Dr. Banks now serves as the Pennsylvania state chair of the International Clarinet Association, and she is the founder of the Millersville University Single Reed Symposium.

The cost of tickets is $10 for general admission and free for Millersville University Students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be purchased by calling 717-871-7600. Online at ArtsMU.com. In person at the Student Memorial Center Ticket Office on campus (Room 103, 21 S. George St, Millersville), or at the Ware Center Box Office (42 N. Prince St., Lancaster). Ticket Offices are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. -2:30 p.m. (Ware Center only). If tickets are still available they may be purchased the day of the show, one hour prior to the performance.
