Highland Street Foundation (HSF) today announced its annual summer event series, Free Fun Fridays, will host the Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) at its Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA)/Boston event on August 19 at 25 Harbor Shore Drive, Boston, MA 02210. The hour-long free event will begin at 12:30 p.m. outside the ICA/Boston grandstand overlooking the Boston Harbor.

The brass quintet - comprised of two trumpets, one French horn, one trombone, one tuba, and one percussionist - will showcase a set featuring classical arrangements and familiar tunes.

"This unique ensemble marks a special connection between Free Fun Friday's and Boston Landmarks Orchestra - we feel Boston Landmarks Orchestra shares the same vision as Highland Street Foundation by providing no-cost accessibility to arts and cultural institutions, with visibility to the area's finest musicians," said Highland Street Executive Director, Blake Jordan.

In recent years, LO has become dedicated to neighborhood and community partnerships, leaving a lasting impression on the lives of children at local schools and camps.

"Universal access and summertime fun lie at the heart of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra programs. Children, families, cultural organizations, and first-time concertgoers all have an important role to play," said Christopher Wilkins, music director at Boston Landmarks Orchestra. "The 2016 season is also the most interactive in our history, as members of our community are active participants in almost every program."

The performance marks the second consecutive year of a LO performance at a Free Fun Fridays event; in 2015, the group performed in front of hundreds of Audience members at the USS Constitution Museum.

Since 1989, the Highland Street Foundation has worked to enrich the lives of children and families in Massachusetts by donating more than $170 million to worthy nonprofit organizations. From its support of TADpole playground in Boston Common, to providing tickets to local sporting events to local nonprofits, to building capacity and providing technical assistance to hundreds of nonprofit organizations, the foundation is dedicated to expanding opportunities for families in Massachusetts and beyond.

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra, conducted by its music director Christopher Wilkins, is a professional orchestra that provides free concerts in the summer that bring together Boston's diverse communities through the common language of music. It performs at the DCR's Hatch Shell on Wednesday nights in July and August in neighborhoods of Greater Boston throughout the summer. For more information, visit www.landmarksorchestra.org.
