ALADDIN's duChateau Leads Young At Arts' Broadway Benefit, 4/28

New York--Broadway music directors Annbritt duChateau (Disney's "Aladdin") and Charles duChateau ("Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark"), alongside a group of their "Broadway friends," are donating their time and talent for the 9th annual Young at Arts benefit at the Christ Church Bronxville (17 Sagamore Road) on Monday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Young at Arts is a dynamic non-profit arts program that annually provides rigorous after-school and in-school instruction in choral music and theater to more than 300 students--from second grade through high school. Founded in 2005 as a response to the cuts in arts education in many schools, Young at Arts aims to bring diverse communities together and encourage young people to reach their full potential through the power of music and theater. Young at Arts serves children from more than 50 different schools in the Southern Westchester County area and in the Bronx.

Chicago native Annbritt duChateau has served as musical director on many great projects, and has had the privilege of serving as an associate musical director to one of the musical theater greats and Lifetime Achievement Tony Award recipient Paul Gemignani. She is currently serving as the assistant conductor of Disney's "Aladdin." Other credits include musical director for "Mary Poppins," associate director for "Billy Elliot," "Pal Joey," "Les Miserables"(revival), "The Frogs," "Into the Woods," "Phantom Of The Opera," and assistant conductor for "Kiss Me, Kate" and "Oklahoma."

Charles duChateau, on the other hand, is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who hails from the great state of Colorado. In addition to conducting, he has played piano, cello, accordion, and erhu on (or near) Broadway for the last 15 years. Most recently, he completed the run of the musical "Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark," with a score by Bono and the Edge of the rock and roll band U2. Other credits include "South Pacific," "The Color Purple," "The Threepenny Opera," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Oklahoma," "Flower Drum Song," and the national tours of "Les Miserables" and "Miss Saigon."

Annbritt and Charles will be joined by Broadway veterans Michael James Scott (Disney's "Aladdin"), Q Smith (Disney's "Mary Poppins"), John Cudia (Broadway's "Les Miserables"), Kathy Voytko (Broadway's "Oklahoma") and Raymond Jaramillo Mcleod (Broadway's "Jekyll and Hyde") as well as band members Dave Phillips, bassist ("Book of Mormon"), and James Descarfino, percussion (Broadway's "Porgy and Bess").

The evening begins with a cocktail hour provided by local artisan chefs at 6:30 p.m, followed by a concert featuring the Young at Arts' "Broadway guests," together with 100 Young at Arts' students.

All proceeds benefit the Young at Arts Scholarship Fund for both full-year tuition assistance and for its summer arts sleep away camp.
