Wayman Publishing has just signed author Jaimie M. Engle and will be publishing her debut novel, "Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light," later in 2013. It is a historical middle grade fantasy novel that takes place during the time of King Richard III. "It's quite fortuitous timing," says Elisa Hirsch, an editor at Wayman Publishing, "since the skull of King Richard III was discovered and verified in February of this year. Engle's writing is rich. Children will learn about history while discovering an exciting tale that not only includes ancient kings and princes, but has dragons, dwarfs and talking mermaids as well." Engle's book describes the War of the Roses, King Richard III and his two famous nephews, whose bodies were never found, assumed to have been murdered by their uncle.

One boy is chosen to redeem the lives of two others, and discover he is part of something greater than himself.

How could Clifton Chase have known that the stupid arrow he found in his closet was a magical portal to a different time and place? Thrust into an adventure, Clifton must evade the King's army, rescue two princes from a heavily guarded tower, escape the fierce fires of a Crestback Dragon, outsmart the Mer King, and get the girl, all the while protecting the Arrow of Light. But, his journey isn't over yet. Clifton needs to discover the arrow's purpose for choosing him. And when he does, he must decide if he is willing to risk his life for the lives of others.

Author Jaimie M. Engle has managed a hip-hop band, modeled bikinis, and danced at the Aloha Bowl halftime show. She published several short stories both online and in print during 2012 & 2013, and placed second in the Space Coast Writer's Guild's short story competition in 2012.
