The new book by Thom Barrett, "Everywhere an Angel: A Journey of Love, Faith, Laughter, and Heartbreak" (published by Trafford Publishing), is an inspiring memoir about the complications of raising two severely handicapped children, the death of two children and the death of their mother. It is also a story of the tremendous love that held things together for 47 years. It includes anecdotes about the intercession of angels, real and human.

This is an uplifting and sometimes even joyous account of the seemingly insurmountable challenges faced by the Barrett family. On one occasion their son, Ty, was hospitalized in a coma and their other son, Andy, was in another hospital 45 minutes away in intensive care recovering from serious brain surgery.

It would seem so easy to lose faith and hope at any time over the years of their marriage, yet Barrett and his wife accepted their lives as a gift from God and a wonderful life experience. Prompted by the recent death of his beloved wife, Barrett decided to commit their story to writing for his own use with the hope that it would help him through the grieving process. His family and friends later encouraged him to publish his work.

"Everywhere An Angel" includes over 25 poignant photographs taking the reader through different stages of the lives of the Barrett family. Barrett hopes his story will inspire not only parents who have wrestled with the unthinkable consequences associated with children with special needs, but also people who can relate with interest and empathy to the trials and tribulations of this family.
