Traditional stories of Santa's North Pole and all its trappings are in abundance this time of year, but author Jordan David offers a fresh, unique perspective in his new book, 'The Elf Resistance - Book Six of the Magi Charter.' The sixth in what will be a series of nine books, 'The Elf Resistance' is captivating and enchanting, while also delivering a strong narrative and a well-developed, complex plot.

The book opens with a classic scene-a surprised family discovers Santa and his reindeer delivering pretty packages on Christmas Eve-and quickly becomes more than a typical Christmas tale about toy factories, candy canes and jingle bells. David's epic moves seamlessly between the realities of the human world, and the complexities and otherworldliness of life at the North Pole where elves and Santas have lived and worked for centuries.

'The Elf Resistance' spans across many generations and into the fast-moving twentieth century. As the ravages of wars and the pace of technology change the global landscape, Santa and the power structure at the North Pole struggle to keep up with how these changes and modern advancements affect their own ability to move forward cohesively and remain uniformly faithful to their "Mission." While they work hard all year planning and preparing for Santa's annual trek to every home on Christmas Eve, peace, forgiveness, hope and harmony are the cornerstones of the Mission. Their own conflicts and difficulties, as well as the influences from the human world, threaten to disrupt their centuries-old unified commitment.

David's use of imagery is masterful. He carefully crafts vivid and detailed descriptions of the fantastical travels and experiences of his colorful cast of characters, and he is equally masterful at blending classic Christmas themes with the truth about the human condition. "The North Pole is not a world of mindless magical creatures who exist solely to serve," says David. "This is a story about people, we are the elves and they are us. The human condition and its problems do not end at the North Pole. That's what I wanted to explore-how would the Santa legend really work in our world?"
