Author Robin E. Levin takes inspiration from Titus Livius' account of the Second Punic War to pen her new historical fiction novel, "The Death of Carthage: Second Edition" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Set during the third and second centuries B.C., "The Death of Carthage" follows the events of the Second Punic War from three perspectives, with the novel itself organized into three books - one for each voice.

The first book is told from the perspective of Lucius Tullius Varro, a Roman soldier in the calvary. His first cousin, Enneus, a soldier as well, narrates the second. Enneus is captured at Lake Trasimene and sold as a slave in Greece. The final book is told from Enneus' son, Ectorius', perspective. Ectorius bears witness to the Third Punic War and the eventual destruction of Carthage.

Packed with action, "The Death of Carthage" combines Levin's love of ancient history with research and careful attention to detail.

"My history is as accurate as I can get it," Levin says. "I also believe the story will appeal on a human level, because it is about people dealing with and overcoming the hardships of war and slavery."
