The New Century Edition translation of Emanuel Swedenborg's short work "New Jerusalem" is now available, marking the first time in 109 years that this work has been translated in its entirety and more than twenty years since the Swedenborg Foundation has published this work as a stand-alone volume.

First published in 1763, this short work, presented as a series of teachings that characterize a spiritual age to come, is also one of Swedenborg's most concise and readable summaries of his interfaith theology. Building on fundamental concepts such as goodness and truth, will and understanding, and love and faith, Swedenborg details the feelings and actions needed for spiritual growth. In the second half of the volume, he focuses on how these all-inclusive spiritual truths relate to Christianity, the church of his day, and to religious teachings about the Bible. At the end of each chapter is an extensive list of cross-references to relevant passages in his magnum opus, "Secrets of Heaven."

"New Jerusalem" is available in paperback for $7.99 or e-book for $1.00.

This volume is part of the New Century Edition of the Works of Emanuel Swedenborg, an ongoing translation series that incorporates the latest scholarship and translation standards for a more accurate and modern rendering of Swedenborg's eighteenth-century works.

Author: Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was a distinguished Swedish scientist and nobleman who later dedicated his life to investigating the mysteries of the soul. He began to have visions of the spiritual realm that resulted in a stream of books about the nature of God, heaven and hell, and the inner meaning of the Bible. He devoted the last decades of his life to studying Scripture and sharing his own unique philosophies about this life and the afterlife with the world.

Translator: George F. Dole holds a BA from Yale, an MA from Oxford, and a PhD from Harvard. Now professor emeritus, Dr. Dole taught ancient languages, the Bible, and theology at the Swedenborg School of Religion in Newtown, Massachusetts. He is also the author of "Freedom and Evil," "Sorting Things Out," and "A Book about Us."
