Bay Area author Sandhya Acharya puts forth a humorous, light-hearted story in her new children's book "Ten Gulab Jamuns". It is based on a true event and the main characters Idu (Ee-doo) and Adu (Aa-doo) are inspired by her own two sons. The two adorable brothers of South Asian origin have a hearty misadventure with Gulab Jamuns - an Indian sweet very hard to resist.

The readers are introduced to nuggets of South Asian culture, but the brothers' experiences are also easily relatable to everyone regardless of their backgrounds. The story includes some basic lessons of counting as well as important values of teamwork, responsibility and family love.

"Ten Gulab Jamuns" is currently available on Kickstarter. Acharya plans to self-publish the book with the help of the crowdfunding site. "This is my attempt to increase multicultural content in children's literature in a fun, relatable way. I hope to realize my dreams and see children of all backgrounds enjoy the book, " she stated.
