Through her poems, Julie Tara seeks to inspire communion with nature, touching the place within that reveals the great mystery of existence and the sacred interconnectedness of all life.

In her new collection, "Songs of Gaia: Devotional Poems to Nourish the Heart" (published by Balboa Press), Tara explores themes of nature, humanity and spirit, and gives voice to what she calls "the transcendent soul of Mother Earth." She hopes that her poetry will offer a sense of redemption, awakening an appreciation of the present moment and illuminating both the soul's grief and its longing for the ecstatic.

"In the face of the difficulties modern life presents, there is a yearning to encounter true beauty," Tara says, "and thus mystical poetry is experiencing a cultural resurgence."

From "Songs of Gaia," the poem "Belonging":

"The art of belonging
is found not in entertaining the question.
For the question itself is steeped in arrogance,
and arrogance cannot bear the fruit of truth.
Therefore, set aside the question
once and for all
and know
everything belongs to everything."
